Battle Not With Monsters...

//Casual reminder to everyone that nowadays I mostly get on thehuntedhuntress, my halfa version of Valerie, so if you want to RP with me, here’s the place to look. My canon Val is pretty much on indefinite hiatus at this point, unless my muse for her comes back. Given how strong my muse for her halfa version is, however, I somewhat doubt it’ll come back any time soon. Sorry everyone, but again, you’re always free to pester me at my halfa!Valerie blog!

So I’m having difficulty actually justifying

differentkettleofoctopus:

Spending any time on fanart, personal art, gift art or anything else that’s not directly related to making money. So in an attempt to rectify that at least marginally…here’s what I’m doing.

sample

Special Commissions: Hands off

My usual prices can be seen here And that kind of commission is still open. Right now though, I’m offering a special kind of commission…’Hands off’ commissions, where my usual prices will be discounted up to 50% off the standard fee.

What’s the catch?

Hands off commissions are exactly what it says on the tin…You pay the fee, tell me the who and the what (and provide reference) and then…You wait. For ordinary commissions, I communicate with the client from beginning to end to ensure full satisfaction…That slows me down considerably.

So what are the benefits of this type of commission?

-Lower prices! A commission that would usually cost $21.50 USD would cost $12.50 instead!

-Greater artistic freedom usually results in a better end result

-You get your artwork faster because I’m not being slowed down by having to ask for confirmation at every phase.

-The possibility of added features…free. If I feel like adding a simple background or colouring an image that was commissioned as a black and white piece, the commissioner won’t be responsible for any additional fees.

What are the cons of this type of commission?

-You have no control over the creative process past the initial ‘prompt’ though I will stay true to the original concept of the commissioner.

-Once the work is completed there will be no refunds…That’s the risk you take

If you’re interested in this kind of commission, email me at spencematts[at]gmail.com

NSFW art is available but outright porn will not be publicly posted

Art can be the commissioner’s OCs or of CCs

Thank you and have a good day!

//Sorry I haven’t really been on here lately. I’ve pretty much started devoting almost all my attention to my Halfa!Val blog of late.

“Sometimes it’s hard to turn, believe it or not! Nah, you won fair and square.” He gave her hand a firm squeeze before lifting it to his lips and pecking the top of it.

Valerie chuckled at his words, then blinked a little as, instead of shaking her hand, he gave it a squeeze and lifted it to press his lips to the top of it. She flushed a little, but managed to laugh it off. “Well, I wasn’t expecting such a gentlemanly admission of defeat.” She teased., though her hand lightly squeezed Danny’s back. “But thank you. That was fun.”

He stood up and stretched after giving her another bright smile. “What do you wanna play next?”

Valerie rose from her seat as well, raising her arms above her head to stretch her back out. “Hmm… what else do you got around here?” She asked, glancing at the different machines.

"Hey, Val. I missed class yesterday, what did we do in Biology?"

"Hmm?" Valerie looked up, arching an eyebrow at Elliot. "Oh… Not much. A lot of it was just review of the last week, since there’s a test coming up at the end of the week. Though we did start going over the anatomy of a cell… here, I’ll let you borrow my notes."

She dug around in her backpack for a moment, before passing over a small sheaf of papers. “Sorry about my handwriting. I was… a little distracted in class at the time.”

Valerie was so out of it, distracted by the numb feeling of over exhaustion, that she didn’t even realize that there was someone standing on the other side of the table until he spoke. Lifting tired eyes, she looked up at Elliot in confusion. “Huh? Elliot?” She asked, blinking, before his question registered.

"Oh! Uh… sure?" She said, gesturing to any of the seats on the other side of the table. "Plenty of room. Take your pick." She forced herself to sit up a little straighter. She hadn’t anticipated having company at lunch, but she supposed it might be better at keeping her from accidentally falling asleep than just poking holes in her mashed potatoes.

"I don’t usually see you in here," She remarked after a moment. "I figured you usually ate outside, or somewhere else." Not that she’d blame him. The cafeteria tended to get rather crowded and noisy. The only reason she had a table to herself was because it was a nice enough day that many of the students took their lunches outside.

Elliot’s cheeks were almost beginning to change into a light pink at the hesitation and time it took, a bit fearful of a rejection.

But she accepted, and he gave a light sigh of relief. He moved to sit across from her, and he opened his lunch bag.

“I normally eat in the news room while I work on the paper’s layout,” he explained. “But…I’m already ahead of schedule and thought that it’d be nice to hang out in the cafeteria,” he lightly lied. Elliot did pretty much already finish a majority of his work ahead of time, but he was interested in making new friends more than ‘hanging out’ in the noisy, gross cafeteria. “Do you normally eat here?”

Valerie forced herself to take a couple bites of her food, more for show than anything else. “Mmhmm,” She hummed around her fork. She swallowed her mashed potatoes, with a bit of a grimace. “Or at least, I usually just try to find a place wherever I can. Today wasn’t too hard. Most everyone is outside, enjoying the nice weather.”

She arched an eyebrow. “Which brings me to wonder… why are you sitting here? I mean… I know you’re sort of new here… but being part of the school newspaper, surely you have your finger on the pulse enough to know I’m kinda persona non grata around here anymore.”

“So…Close! UGHHH!” He let go of the wheel, planting his back against the chair and shaking his head with a soft chuckle. “Alright, you won. Good game.” He gave her a free hand like he was offering to shake hers.

Valerie turned to Danny, a genuine smile on her face as she accepted his hand. “Not too bad for a first timer, huh?” She asked, before arching an eyebrow. “You let me win, though, didn’t you? That crash seemed pretty convenient to me.”

Danny slammed his foot now all the way on the gas, whispering lowly, “Gogogogogogo..”

it was the home stretch, and Valerie was doing the same. The vehicles were practically side by side at this point and she was just focused on getting to the finish line that she couldn’t actually tell who was in the lead, it was simply too close. Just a couple feet more…

Danny narrowed his eyes and leaned back now, gripping at the wheel with white-knuckles shown. “Come on! Come on!

Valerie was leaning as close to the wheel as she feasibly could, all her weight focused on pressing on the gas peddle. They inched closer and closer…

And suddenly they were across the finish line. For a moment it was almost impossible to tell who won, but after a moment the camera broke off to follow directly behind the winner.

On Valerie’s part, she finally realized just how hard she had been gripping the steering wheel, and was slowly trying to peel her hands off of it, flexing her fingers. “Whoa… heh… I think I can see why you guys get so addicted to these things…”

Danny licked his lips and eased up on the gas repeatedly to get his car going. Valerie seemed to be just a turn behind him. He clenched the wheel harder and leaned forward in the chair.

Valerie was bound and determined now to catch up, and she ended up mimicking Danny’s position, biting down on her lip as she concentrated, a grin at the corners of her lips. Just a little closer…

Danny crashed into a wall and quickly turned around back on the road. “Aw, come on!”

Valerie saw her chance and took it, trying to race past while Danny was still trying to correct his mistake. “Come on… come on…!” She muttered to herself, her eyes nearly shining with that competitive spirit.

“Oh shit…shit, shit, shit..” Danny grit his teeth once more, trying to go faster, but his foot was already set on the gas pedal all the way, though he stayed in the same mph.

With each turn she was figuring out the controls better and better, and was using that to try and slowly catch up. She didn’t figure she’d win this round, but maybe she wouldn’t loose as spectacularly as she had first figured.

“Uh—right. Tell it to—…Damn, I lost it.” He muttered the last part under his breath before sticking the landing and easing on a long turn.

"Uh huh… what was that? I couldn’t hear you over the sound of me catching up!" Valerie snarked back as she managed to make a turn almost perfectly this time.

“Ha! I’m a whole lap ahead of you—almost anyway!” He laughed briskly, doing a spin-out trick in the air after going over a ramp.

"Real smooth, Danny," She countered as she slowly started closing the gap again. "Lord it over someone who literally has never played the game before. You’re really showing me how big of a man you are. I’d applaud you, but as you can see, my hands are kind of busy right now."

Danny gently tapped the break when he made the turns, gritting his teeth and making sharp turns when needed. “Should have been paying attention Val-Pal!”

Valerie snorted, still trying to catch up. “Hey, shove it, Ghost Boy. This is my first time playing this thing,” She replied as she tried to copy Danny’s movements, with limited success.
